Fonner Park Virtual Tour Shoot

This last weekend we were back to shoot more virtual tours at Fonner Park in Grand Island.  We had already shot some virtual tours the week before, but they really wanted us to come back for their big horse racing weekend.  Needless to say it was quite the event with people everywhere.  The horse racing last for about a month in the spring, but this was some of the biggest races of the year with a $75,000 purse.  Dianne their marketing director was able to get us right up next to the action.  With time between races being so much I really only had one chance to get the horses coming by in a pack.  I positioned myself so that the horses would fill the frame and not have any visible stitching marks.  Below is the virtual tour we shot of the horse racing, but if you want to see the completed virtual tour of all Fonner Park has to offer check back in the near future.

Hotel Pictures

A few weeks back I was contacted by a client that we had worked with in the past on some virtual tours to see if we would be interested in taking some still images of a hotel that they had recently purchased and renovated.  Of course we were more than excited to help in any way we could.  We will actually be heading back to shoot a virtual tour of the property once things slow down, but for now they needed new images for web.

With all of that said the property they wanted us to photograph was a Super 8.  When most of us think of a Super 8, we think a simple room and a place to sleep.  I mean at the end of the day if you are staying at a motel in this category price is probably an important issue.  Let me tell you that this was by far the nicest Super 8 I have ever seen.  They went all out when it came to remodeling this property.  You would have thought you were in an upper scale hotel from the cozy room decor and linens to the granite counter tops in the bathrooms.  If only I could get this type of deal and comfort everywhere I go… I would be a much happier traveler.

Motorcycle Action Photography

For a while now I have been wanting to get out and take some pictures of motorcycles in action.  I have taken all sorts of photos over the years, but have really never tried much in terms of action photography.  Conditions were not ideal since it was the middle of the day with harsh lighting, but I wanted plenty of time to play around with some ideas as well as camera settings.  In other words, this was mainly a practice session to hone my skills, so the next time when conditions were favorable I would be ready to shoot. The pictures of the black motorcycle were taken by Matthew Kulhanek. I hope you enjoy these picture because I know I enjoyed the ride.

Before & After – Lightroom 4

I haven’t ever done this before, but I was thinking it would be a great way to show what post processing can do for you and your images.  Most people do not realize or simply don’t understand that taking any picture directly from the camera and expecting it to be a great shot is almost impossible.  With that said there are some exceptional photographers out there that may get a variety of shots that can come straight out of the camera, but even the best photographers out there do post processing on their images.

I am a true believer of Adobe products and especially Lightroom 4.  I have used Lightroom 3 for a long time, but with the new release of Lightroom 4 I find that some of the new features and adjustment tools have really stepped up the capabilities of this product.  I am not going to get into a tutorial on a step by step process on how I processed the following image, but just wanted to show you where the image started and the finished product.  Take a look.

Looking Back at Old Pictures

As our basement project comes closer and closer to completion it has crossed our minds that after painting we will still need to decorate the walls in some sort of fashion.  After thinking on this for a while my wife suggested that we do everything with our own pictures we have taken.  I thought this would be a great idea as we take so many pictures, but rarely print anything for our own walls.  So I started the process of looking through some old pictures from past vacations and came across a couple I really enjoyed taking.  I am not sure they will make the cut or not, but I thought you might enjoy seeing them anyways.  I hope everyone has a great day.

Quick Evening Shot of Grain Elevators

Lately there has been some killer sunsets, but I just hadn’t had a chance to try and capture one until yesterday evening.  We were headed out the door on our way to some friend’s place which was about 20 minutes away when I decided I would grab the camera just in case I saw something I wanted to shoot.  I have been eying the grain elevators right off the highway for some time, but had never taken the time to stop.  I decided that with the time restraints I had that this would be the best place to capture a quick snap shot of the grain elevators.  I didn’t have but about 2 to 3 minutes, so I did my best with the expectation that this would give me an opportunity to form a game plan for the next time I come to shoot the elevators when I have more time.  This picture is nothing spectacular, but it did give me something to blog about.

Younes Hospitality… Conference Center

We recently had the opportunity to work with Younes Hospitality which is central Nebraska’s premier convention space provider.  With their state of the art facilities they offer their clients the some of the best rental spaces and experiences in hospitality from Omaha to Denver.  With rooms of all sizes and a list of services that never seem to stop Younes Hospitality has something to offer everyone from a small business meeting to wedding receptions of sizes to national trade shows and meetings.  The goal with this project was to help them showcase their facilities in a new and interactive multimedia platform that would appeal to their broad range of potential clientele.  With a virtual tour in their marketing toolbox Younes Hospitality can now allow anyone, anywhere, anytime, to preview their conference and convention spaces.  National and regional organizations can now feel even more confident in booking their events with Younes Hospitality without ever setting foot in their facilities.  Click the images to view their virtual tour.

Friends… Family… & Portrait

The other day we had an opportunity to take some family portraits of our good friends.  They didn’t want anything fancy. They just wanted something they could give out to family this Christmas as they just had their first child in August.  So, I guess you could say we had the privilege of taking their first ever family portrait.  I also included a shot of the little man I took right at the end of our session.  It was great to have friends over for dinner as well as the opportunity to document a special time in their lives.  I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

The Heroes Game [Huskers vs. Hawkeyes]

This past weekend I had an opportunity of a lifetime to attend a Nebraska Football Game with a good friend.  With his connections I was able to get an access pass to most of the stadium.  He took me on the field, through the press boxes, under the stadium, into the new student life complex, as well as other areas most fans are not allowed on game day.  It was a real treat being that I am such a huge Husker fan.

Most  of my pictures are during pregame and when I actually had a clear shot through all the people on the sidelines, but it was still a blast to be so close to the field.  Although I had an access pass I still had to give way to people working the game like media personnel and photographers, so I really never had a chance to take many action shots because of where I had to stand.  In the end I really could care less where I had to stand because taking in an experience such as this with a good friend is of far greater importance than any pictures I might have missed out on.

Still Here… Just Been Busy.

I know it has been quite a while since I last posted anything on our blog, but we have just been so busy with the business and life that the blog sort of took a backseat.

Today I wanted to share a couple of virtual tours we took while on vacation to the Grand Canyon.  Believe it or not I always have great intentions of shooting tons of virtual tours while on vacation, but my passion for photography (landscapes, people, nature, panoramic images, etc.) usually out ways the feelings of shooting another virtual tour which I have to do all the time for our business.  Although on this trip I did make it a goal to shoot one virtual tour of the Grand Canyon as well as the Four Corners Monument on the way home.  Have a look…
